William LeRoy Cartwright was born April 9th, 1887 at Nodaway, Iowa. When a youth he came with his parents to Wolbach in 1903. In 1917 he was united in marriage to Marguerite Webster. They lived on a ranch south of Broken Bow and he barbered in Ocono until 1920., To this union was born a son, William Webster and daughter who passed away in infancy. In 1921 after four years of marriage, the wife and mother passed away . On November 16, 1922, he was united in marriage to Gladys M. Meyer of Palmer. To this union were born two daughters. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Mrs. Viola Junk in 1917, a brother Roland in 1935, also two brothers and a sister who died in infancy. Left to mourn his loss are his wife Gladys; a son William W. Cartwright of Casper, Wyo; and two daughters, Velma Irene (Patsy) Romans of Fountain Valley, Calif., and Peggy Ann McNeil of Lincoln, Nebr.; seven grandchildren, three brothers and three sisters, Mrs. Ida Mae Jackson of Fullerton, Nebr., Mrs. Myrtle Jones of Sunnyvale, Calif., Mrs. E. Marie Dollarhyde of Billings, Montana, Lester F. Cartwright of Norfolk, Nebr., Russel Cartwright of Wray, Colo., and James Cartwright of Broken Bow, other relatives and many friends. Bill was a skilled barber, carpenter and electrician. For 12 years he was employed by the city of Wolbach as Marshall, water and light commissioner and served one year at St. Paul. In February, 1949, they moved to Wray, Colo., where he was employed by Dave Bengtson in the dry cleaning and laundry business. He retired in Wray in August 1857 and they moved to Yuma, Colorado, resided at High Plains Manor. He was a member of the Methodist Church for many years and transferred to the Yuma church. He belonged to all branches of the Order of Odd Fellows and retired from office as Captain of Canton No. 7 at Sterling, Colo., was Past Grandmaster of Wray Lodge No. 123 and also a member of Wray Rebekah No. 76.
