Read More	Emporia Daily Republican, Thursday, 5 December 1895 Obituary Mr. William Lockhart Brown was born in Indiana, June 23, 1856, and died Wednesday, November 27, 1895, at 12 o'clock. He was married to Miss Melina Jane Wilhite February 22, 1879. The mother passed away one year ago, leaving Mr. Brown the father of five motherless children, all living and saw their father laid to rest just one year after the death of their mother, a very sad and touching scene. Mr. Brown and wife, most of the time since their marriage, lived ear Emporia. Both died in the same house - their late residence - being seven miles southeast of Emporia. Of those who knew Mr. Brown best, we can truly say none knew him but to love him. He was a kind neighbor, a true friend and a most affectionate and indulgent father. His conversation always pictured heaven as a grand place to him. Often he said, after his wife;s death, that he was almost anxious to go to the beautiful unknown. Each day of his life he daily prayed that he might live nearer his blessed Christ. All through his sickness which was a duration of almost four weeks, he would constantly pray to be released from his terrible suffering. Often he spoke how vividly he could see heaven and he angels and he was going to a better city than any earthy city. Thanking each and everyone of us for our kindness and food care of him he fell sweetly asleep in Jesus without a murmur or a struggle. Rev. Harkness conducted the funeral services Friday, Nov. 29 at the Fowler chapel, speaking very beautiful and touching words concerning the sweet christian life of Mr. William Lockhart Brown.
