("Sallie") Martin Higgins. ~~~~~ The State Columbia, South Carolina January 10, 1939 Willie Higgins Dies at Hospital Willie Higgins, 62, of Messers Mill, died at Providence Hospital at noon yesterday. He had been in the hospital for four days and had been in declining health for six years. He is survived by his widow; two sons, D. C. Higgins and J. H. Higgins; seven daughters, Miss Estelle HIggins, Miss May Higgins, Miss Pearl Higgins, Mrs. Ollie Martin, Mrs. Virginia Baldwin, Mrs. Sallie Terry, Mrs. Daisy Baldwin of Messers Mill; two brothers, D. C. Higgins and Austin Higgins of Edgewood; two sisters, Miss Bettie Baldwin and Mrs. Anna Terry, both of Edgewood. Funeral services will be conducted from Salem Methodist Church at noon today. Interment will be in the churchyard. The Rev. Mr. Hodge will officiate. The funeral cortege will leave the Dunbar Funeral Home at 11 o'clock this morning. ~~~~~ This cemetery is located at Ft. Jackson, Richland County, South Carolina. Note that when Ft. Jackson acquired additional land ca 1939, some burials were removed to other locations. In the case of Salem Methodist Church, the church itself relocated to Elgin (Blaney at the time).
