McGillvrey, Long-time Rose Hill Resident Funeral rites for William McGillvrey were held last Friday afternoon at Rose Hill Presbyterian church, of which he had been a member for many years. Rev. Ben Thaden officiated at the rites. McGillvrey died at his home February 17, after a lingering illness. Read More	Rites Held Friday For Wm. McGillvrey, Long-time Rose Hill Resident Funeral rites for William McGillvrey were held last Friday afternoon at Rose Hill Presbyterian church, of which he had been a member for many years. Rev. Ben Thaden officiated at the rites. McGillvrey died at his home February 17, after a lingering illness. Mr. McGillvrey and his wife had resided in Rose Hill township since 1903, when they came to this county, and built up a farm which was their home continuously. He was born January 15, 1879 at Crathorne, Iowa, the son of John and Christena McGillvrey. He attended the rural schools of Plymouth County, Iowa and later Westmor College in LeMars. In 1898 he enlisted in the army and served during the Spanish-American war. January 1, 1900, he was married to Hannah Ross, at Merrill, Iowa, and for a time they made their home in Sioux City, then moved to Rose Hill township in 1903, to their present home. He was always active in civic affairs, having served a number of years with the Triple A, and on school and township boards. He continued active until about two years ago, when his eyesight failed. Surviving his death are his wife; one son, Colin, Wessington, and a daughter, Mrs. Ferris Nerreter (Evelyn) of Wahlson, Minn., and a brother, Arthur of Hitchcock. He was preceded in death by five sisters and three brothers.
