Cayler, for many years a resident of this place, passed away at the home of his son, Eugene Cayler, at Granada, Minnesota, Wednesday, April 14, 1915, at the age of 75 years, 8 months and 11 days. Although he was in poor health during the last few years of his residence here and spent some time at the hospital in Boone, he went to Granada last fall to spend the winter with his son, where he seemed to be getting along quite well and it was thought by his son that he would recover as he was a great deal better at the opening of spring. On Wednesday he was seized with an attack of heart trouble and fell to the ground. He was taken into the house, but lived only a few minutes afterwards. William Robert Cayler was born in the state of Indiana August 3, 1839. He enlisted in the Civil War in 1861, but on account of sickness was not in service. He was united in marriage in the year 1866 to Jennie Burgess. To this union thirteen children were born. He leaves to mourn his death six sons and five daughters, his wife and two daughters having preceded him to the great beyond. The remains arrived here Saturday morning from Granada and funeral services were held at the M.E. church in the afternoon, conducted by Rev. C.A. Anderson, a large number of relatives and friends being present to pay a parting tribute to the departed one. The remains were interred in the Oakwood cemetery.
