Description	:	William Ross was born in Bethany, Missouri on June 26, 1874 to Branson Miller and Susan Annice Ross. He and his family moved to Post Falls, Idaho in 1888. His sister, Emma, married Jacob Rego and moved to Kittitas County [Washington] in 1884. William first visited the Regos with father, mother and sisters when he was thirteen. They traveled across Colockum Pass in a horse-drawn covered wagon. Read More	William Ross was born in Bethany, Missouri on June 26, 1874 to Branson Miller and Susan Annice Ross. He and his family moved to Post Falls, Idaho in 1888. His sister, Emma, married Jacob Rego and moved to Kittitas County [Washington] in 1884. William first visited the Regos with father, mother and sisters when he was thirteen. They traveled across Colockum Pass in a horse-drawn covered wagon. He later returned and worked at Rego's ranch near the present gold course; he also helped his father on his fruit ranch at Post Falls until buying the Olaf Hansen homestead on Hanson Road in 1905. In 1907, William married Norma Roth in Rathdrum, Idaho. They had five children. A son resulted from a former marriage to Christina Knox. Will Ross sold the West Side farm in 1910 and bought a farm near Thrall, residing there seven years, then he repurchased the West Side farm. Later he rented that ranch to his son, George, and bought one in Cooke Canyon, living there summers and moving to Thorp during the school years. There were no school buses for high school children. He also owned a ranch on the Yakima River near Thorp for a time. [source: Kittitas County History] At the age of 44 years, Wm. S. Ross was a farmer in the Manastash area and registered to vote. [Voters Registration 1914-1919, Kittitas Co., WA, Vol. 2). He declared that he had lived in the state for eleven years, which meant that he arrived there in 1907. Will passed away March 1, 1969 at the age of 94 years, 8 months, 3 days. Services were at Evenson Funeral Home in Ellensburg. Officiating was Mr. Allan Ashmore and Mr. Robert Anderson. Pallbearers were Paul Ross, Jerry Smith, Guy Smith Jr., Gene Smith, Donald Ross and Dean Ross Jr. Concluding services were at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Ellensburg.
