Main St., died at 11:45 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12, 1999, at Mission Hospital in Mission, Texas. The body has been cremated. A memorial service in Fairfield will be scheduled at a later date. Raymond Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Campbell was born Dec. 15, 1912, in Fairfield, the son of William Shannon and Ethel Glenn Smith Campbell. He married C. Maxine "Pat" Caviness Feb. 3, 1939, at her parents' home in Fairfield. Mr. Campbell was a Realtor and an auctioneer. He owned and operated Iowa Auction and Real Estate before his retirement. He was an auctioneer for 30 years. He owned and operated Fairfield Laundry and Dry Cleaners for 28 years. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in dairy from Iowa State University. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church; B.P.O. Elks 1192; Walton Club; and was a charter member of Howard Johnson Coffee Club. He served on the Fairfield school board and Fairfield City Council. He was mayor of Fairfield from 1972 until 1974. Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Pamela Gale Lohse of St. Charles, Mo.; two sons, William "Shannon Campbell of Davenport and Richard Edwin Campbell of Phoenix, Ariz.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. His parents preceded him in death.
