He grew to manhood on the farm and has ever kept his interests in farm life. He had the country-county schools for his schooling, and taking up farmnig(sp) as his life avocation, he wooed and won in marriage, Miss Effie Bull, of Brock, Mo. They were married March 21, 1897 and at once made their home where all their married life on the same farm site they lived and labored and teared their family. There came to bless their home four daughters: Mabel, now Mrs. Floyd Nelson, of Douds, Iowa; Ida, now Mrs. Ralph Doud, of Cantril, Iowa; Lynne, now Mrs. Frank Peyton, of Tuscon, Ariz., and Helen, who died in August, 1925. The wife and mother passed away Sept. 16, 1934. Since her death, William has made his home most of the time with Ida, on the old home place. Will Teter was a member of Cantril Lodge of Masons, and for a number of years was one of the trustees. His love of the beautiful included everything in the community which tended to its upbuilding. He had been in failing health for the past four or five years but only past three or four months has he been confined to his couch. He passed away Friday, October 2, 1936, at the age of 72 years and 29 days. He leaves besides the children above mentioned, one brother, Ed of Los Angeles, Calif.; three grandchildren, Marjorie and Kathleen Nelson, of Douds, Iowa, and Wm. Donald Peyton, of Tuscon, Arizona, beside there are a number of nieces and nephews. The funeral services were in charge of the Masons, and held at the Methodist church in Cantril, Sunday, October 4, 1936, Rev. W.W. Griffith of the church read the scripture and offered the prayer, Rev. Lloyd Tennant, Bloomfield, a very personal friend of the family, gave the sermon. The music was by a select quartet of the church. Interment was made in the Cantril cemetery. Source: Van Buren Co.
