William's father, Hiram Mason Works married Prudence Lincoln on June 2,1853, and they had two son's, Francis A(1858) and Charles H(1860). Prudence and Hiram must of got a divorce some time after 1880 for that is the last time they were together in the U.S. Federal Census. Prudence's brother, Alvin Hovey Lincoln married Catherine Louisa Grames. Caterine's sister Mary M Grames, married Hiram Mason Works. Hiram married Mary Grames on March 20, 1888. She had a son who was born March 29, 1881, in Minnesota, with the name of William Wallace Grames. Not sure if William was adopted or not, but in the Census his last name was Works from then on. William now had two stepbrothers, Francis and Charles. Mary died on November 28,1892. Hiram then married Esther Feathers in 1893. William, Hiram and Esther, at some time in the early 1900's moved to Oregon. William met and married Lulu Mae Furnish on December 18, 1904 in Albany, Oregon. They had five children: Irvin H(1905), Louise M(1906), Kenneth(1908), Laurett J(1915), and Dossie W(1924). The first four children were born in Oregon and Dossie was born in Montana. William's father, Hiram died in 1906. In the 1910 U.S. Federal Census, Esther was living with them and was listed as, William's stepmother. Not sure when Esther might have died, for in 1920 she is not listed as living with William and Lulu. In September of 1918, William registered for WWI, at this, time they lived in Oregon. In 1920 they were in Chouteau Co, Montana. He was a farmer by trade. William died on May 4,1971 in Fort Benton, Chouteau, Montana at the age of 90. He was laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery. He was loved by every one who knew him.
