In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church. Mr. Riepe was born Sept. 28, 1909, in Beaver Crossing, Neb., the son of Otto and Elsie McClaughry Riepe. He married Minnie Rubey on July 5, 1934. She died March 1, 1951. He married Dellora Kiezke on Feb. 28, 1959, in Des Moines. He was educated in New London schools, graduating from New London High School in 1926. From 1941 to 1959, he farmed in Buchanan Township. Mr. Riepe then moved to Des Moines where he worked for Iltis Lumber Company for 22 years. In 1980, he retired and moved to Fairfield. He was a member of First Lutheran Church; IOOF Lodge No. 6, Fairfield; and IOOFEncampmentNo.6. Mr. Riepe also belonged to the Merry Makers Card Club and the First National Bank Heritage Club. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Ernest of Fairfield and Paul of Saugus, Calif.; a sister, Rachel Howell of Lockridge; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. In addition to his first wife, he was preceded by his parents; a son, Joh; a daughter, Evelyne Godwin; two brothers, Ora and Riepe (sic); a sister, Lorena Housel; one grandson; and one great-grandson.
