They weighed from 500 to 700 pounds. Zachariah Taylor Lang, eldest son of John and Parella Lang, was born in Davis county, Iowa, April 7, 1847. A little more than a year ago he was stricken with paralysis from which he never recovered. All that loving hands could do was done to no avail and he passed on to the great beyond Oct. 10, 1917, having been granted 68 years, 7 months and 3 days of earth's pilgrimage. He will be missed in the community as well as in the home, living in this county all his life. January 24, 1875, he married Miss Sophia Goodson and to them were born 7 children. His wife survives with the following children to mourn his departure: Marion and Julia at home, Mrs Flora Grant of Mustang, Colo., Charlie and Mrs Parella Shoopman, Edgar, Neb. With the exception of Mrs Grant they were all present at the funeral. He also leaves one sister, Mrs Sarah Strickland of Floris, and 3 brothers, Greene of Ottumwa, and Dave and Wallace of Floris, 3 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Short services were conducted at the home, Oct 12, 1917, by Mr R Pierson of Pulaski, after which the body was tenderly laid to rest in the Rouch cemetery
