Description	:	Josiah Wallace Lang, son of John and Paralee Taylor Lang was born in Davis county, Iowa, August 13, 1859 and passed away at his home in Floris, September 5, 1935, at the age of 76 years and 22 days. Except for a short interval when he resided in Ottumwa, his entire life was spent in the county of his birth. On October 31, 1878 he was united in marriage to Cora R. Read More	Josiah Wallace Lang, son of John and Paralee Taylor Lang was born in Davis county, Iowa, August 13, 1859 and passed away at his home in Floris, September 5, 1935, at the age of 76 years and 22 days. Except for a short interval when he resided in Ottumwa, his entire life was spent in the county of his birth. On October 31, 1878 he was united in marriage to Cora R. Knedler and to this union were born five children, one dying in infancy. Those left to receive the heritage of a kind and faithful father are; Mrs. Lulu Strickland, Mrs. Vieva Hart and Mrs. Vera Emanuel, all of Floris and one son, Alva, of Bloomfield, nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death is his beloved wife who passed away September 29, 1934, father, mother, three brothers and four sisters. At an early age he united with the Christian church of this place and faithfully and well he kept the faith. About eleven years ago he and his wife left their farm and moved to this place establishing a home where they resided until death. The sympathy of many friends go out to the bereaved ones at this sad time. I cannot say, and I will not say That he is dead -- he is just away. With a cherry smile and a wave of the hand As he wandered into an unknown land, And left us dreaming how very fair It needs must be, since he lingers there, And you -- O you, who the wildest yearn For the old time step and the glad return -- Think of him faring on, as dear In the love of There as the love of Here; Think of him still as the same, I say He is not dead -- He is just away. (James Whitcomb Riley) Funeral services were held Sunday, September 8, at Floris, conducted by Rev. McClure, of Ottumwa. Interment was made in the Floris cemetery.
