| Description | : | This cemetery is on part of the original homestead of Christian and Maria Schneider Bechtel who came into the area from York County Pa. and purchased lands from The DeHaas family in 1793. Christian Bechdel came from York County to present-day Liberty Township in 1790. He settled on the present Thomas property near Blanchard, which he purchased from John and Eleanor DeHaas in 1793. There he died on 24, July 1800 at 61 years. His wife Mary died in 1804. Both are, without doubt, buried in this cemetery although their markers, if any, bear no inscriptions. ... Read More |
