Description	:	Carr Cemetery is located in northern Monroe County, Alabama on the River Ridge Road. To reach the cemetery, head north on Hwy 41. from Monroeville. When you reach Franklin, the new Springhill Baptist Church is on the right side of the highway. Tin Cup Alley intersects Hwy 41 beside the church. To reach the cemetery, head north on Hwy 41. from Monroeville. When you reach Franklin, the new Springhill Baptist Church is on the right side of the highway. Tin Cup Alley intersects Hwy 41 beside the church. Go to the end of Tin Cup Alley, where it intersects River Ridge Road. Turn right and go approx. 6 1/2 miles on River Ridge Road. Carr Cemetery is located in the woods on the right side of the dirt road. The latitude and longitude are approximate as the cemetery is located in a heavily wooded area and cell service is almost non-existent at the actual location of the cemetery. There are only 4 known headstones left standing in Carr Cemetery. However, there are several additional graves that are marked with large rocks. As you enter Carr Cemetery, there are 4 graves in a row, 3 of which are marked. From left to right, the graves are Joannah Richardson, Mary C. Watts and June P. Watts. The fourth grave in the row is marked by large rocks. According to a lady who has been visiting the cemetery almost all her life, Joannah's mother's grave is on the left side as you stand facing Joannah's grave. I was told Joannah's mother had a large marble headstone, but unfortunately, if true, the headstone is now missing. Immediately in front of these 4 graves is a large tree with two stones designating a grave right beside the tree. Approximately 100 feet north to northeast of these graves is another headstone. The top of the headstone showing the name, birth and death dates has been broken off. The only remaining inscription on the headstone is "God has called thee home. He thought it best". Approximately another additional 100 feet north to northeast of this unknown grave are three more graves marked by large stones. This cemetery has been abandoned for many years, but it must have been a fairly large cemetery at one time. There is at least 200 feet separating the first and last gravesites that we located. With the woods being so overgrown, there are probably many more graves in the cemetery waiting to be discovered.
