Description	:	The first known survey of this cemetery was done by noted genealogist Dr. Allan E. Marble on September 14, 1966. Per his usual procedure, he did not give the cemetery a name but instead assigned it an identifying number. For this cemetery, the number was 15. He recorded the location as Tupperville. At a later date, Genweb volunteers transcribed Dr. Marble's survey notes and made them available online at Rootsweb. At that time, the volunteers named it "Delancey Cemetery" but, in the Rootsweb cemetery index, they listed the name simply as "Delancey". They recorded the location as Tupperville. Dr. Marble transcribed 2 headstones containing 4 inscriptions. The oldest identifiable stone in this inactive cemetery is from 1804. There is considerable confusion regarding the community in which the cemetery is located due to some historical references which state that the 650-acre DeLancey farm (on which the cemetery is situated) was in Round Hill or near Round Hill. Present-day, according to the Civic Addressing Map, the cemetery is definitely located well within the community of Tupperville. Originally, this eastern portion of Tupperville, from just east of the Tupperville Community Hall eastward to the western boundary of Round Hill, was known as Bentville (it was later merged with Tupperville). Col. James DeLancy purchased his 650-acre farm from David Bent Sr and his wife, Mary Felch, Planters who settled the area in 1760. David Bent Sr. owned a considerable amount of land in Bentville, which was named after him. The deed for the sale of the land to James DeLancey does not specify a specific community; it merely states Annapolis Township. The DeLancey farm was indeed very near Round Hill. Possibly the original boundary between Round Hill and Tupperville was positioned further east than it is today. Or possibly there was debate over exactly where the boundary was located in those days. The DeLancey farm was located much closer to Round Hill than to the most populated areas of Bentville (later merged with Tupperville under the name Tupperville), so this may have resulted in a closer association with Round Hill. All we can say with certainty is that today the cemetery is officially located in Tupperville. The cemetery was conveyed to the Historical Association of Annapolis Royal from John Nichols, farmer, by a deed dated October 20, 1924 and registered in the Registry of Deeds for Annapolis County, Nova Scotia on February 18, 1925 in Book 184 at Page 373. On one side of the four-sided memorial for Col. James DeLancey and his wife there is the following information inscribed: "This old family burial plot of the Delanceys and its memorials were formally taken over by the Historical Association of Annapolis Royal, A.D. 1925 for perpetual care." DIRECTIONS: The path to enter this cemetery is off Highway 201 in Tupperville directly east of Civic #2363. The entrance to the path is marked by a sign erected in 1925 by the Historical Society of Annapolis Royal. It is about a five-minute walk down through a field to the old railbed. The cemetery is located on the west side of the railbed, overlooking the Annapolis River.
