| Description | : | International Society of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers Historical Site: Common Gravesite of three Mormon Battalion Soldiers who were killed after discharge from the U.S. Army in the War with Mexico, 1846 to 1848. Sergeant Daniel Browett, who was president and lead scout of the Browett-Holmes Company, was scouting a route over the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range from California to Utah through Idaho, for returning soldiers. He was robbed and murdered, supposedly by Digger Indians, who axed, shot and, with arrows, mutilated him and his two companion scouts.
