She with her parents moved to Glasco, Kansas, in the spring of 1879 where she grew to womanhood. She was united in holy matrimony at Alfred Hilsabeck, Christmas eve of 1897, in Glasco, Kansas. To this union five children were born of whom two have preceded her departure. Those living are Lawrence E. and Warren Palmer Hilsabeck of Oelwein, Iowa, and Elizabeth Merritt of Torrance, California. She was educated in the Glasco Public Schools and the Normal School at Concordia, Kansas. During her early womanhood she taught school at Fisher Creek and several years in Glasco Public Schools. After her marriage she with her husband moved to Gillman, Iowa, making their home there for five years; then at Marshalltown, Iowa, for seven years; at Seattle, Washington, for six years, returning to Oelwein, Iowa, in 1914 where they resided for 16 years until returning to Glasco in 1929 to care for her aged father. After his death, she with her husband made their home in Glasco until her demise. In early childhood she united with the Methodist Episcopal Church and has given to it her untiring and valuable service. She has served faithfully and efficiently in all its Women's organizations. She was the president of the Red Cross work in Glasco at her death. Her time to this work was given liberally, and through personal contacts aided many in their various needs. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Daughters of the American Revolution, besides other reading clubs. To her, life was sharing and giving to others. She spent several years of her life in care of the aged and infirm. To pass on a word of cheer or act of kindness to comfort some one who felt the pain of trying hours, gave her joy of heart and soul. To her family, she was a devoted and loving wife and mother. Always concerned about those things in life which would give her family the noble living. To her friends and neighbors, a heartfelt concern for their best interest and welfare - to thus end she spent the forces of life charitably in a spirit of devotion. Beside her husband and children, she leaves to mourn her going, five brothers and one sister: Theodore D. Palmer of St, Paul, Minn., John D. Palmer of Marshalltown, Iowa; Alice E. Cleaver of Glasco, Kansas, Roscoe B. Palmer and Jay Albert Palmer of Sturgis, Michigan and Harry W. Palmer of Concordia, Kansas; two grandchildren, and other near relatives and many friends. The funeral services were held at the Methodist Episcopal Church in Glasco, Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Roy Allsbury. Interment in the Glasco cemetery. Lott & Stine funeral directors had charge of the funeral arrangements.
