Description	:	Adeline Caroline Sophia (Jans) Meinke, 81, of Crete died Friday, February 25, 2000. She was born June 15, 1918 at home in Lancaster County to Henry and Clara (Henning) Jans. She was baptized by Pastor Gerike at St. John Lutheran Church July 8, 1918 and was confirmed by Pastor Cholcher May 8, 1932. On May 8, 1938 she was married in a double wedding to Carl Meinke at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor Pebler officiating. Read More	Adeline Caroline Sophia (Jans) Meinke, 81, of Crete died Friday, February 25, 2000. She was born June 15, 1918 at home in Lancaster County to Henry and Clara (Henning) Jans. She was baptized by Pastor Gerike at St. John Lutheran Church July 8, 1918 and was confirmed by Pastor Cholcher May 8, 1932. On May 8, 1938 she was married in a double wedding to Carl Meinke at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor Pebler officiating. Two sisters married two brothers, as Adeline married Carl, and her sister, Viola, married Carl's brother, William. Adeline lived in this area all of her life. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church all her life and took an active roll in the work of the church. She was a member of the Ladies Aid and J.O.Y. Group since it began and was a member of the Formfit Retirees. She worked many years for Formfit and kept books for Gary and Norma Malone at the Villa Madrid Motel. Adeline enjoyed music and playing cards. She spent much of her time helping others. While she lived at the hospital, she spent time reading to people and visiting. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Norma and Gary Malone of Crete; son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Deany Meinke of Houston; grandchildren, Deb and Jerry Hauder, Mike and Elynn Malone, Pat Malone and special friend, Annie Miller, all of Crete; Laura Meinke of Cleveland, Ohio, Dana Meinke of Seattle, Tina and Van Cochran and Missy and Eric Thompson; great grandchildren, Nicholas and Zack Hauder, Michaela and Kaitlyn Malone, Colton and Lyndi Cochran; sister and brother-in-law, Esther and Bill Heitman of Crete; and brother and sister-in-law, Orval and Charlotte Jans of Seward, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Merna; sister and brother-in-law, Viola and Bill Meinke; and sister-in-law, Adeline Jans. Services were February 28 at St. John Lutheran Church at Kramer with Pastor John Heckmann officiating. Organist was Jolene Reetz. Interment was at St. John Cemetery, Kramer. Pallbearers were Jim Heitman, Ken Tesar, Gary Meinke, Arnold Meinke, Harry Meinke, and Freddie Knollenberg. Kuncl Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Source: The Crete News, March 1, 2000
