Jans was born April 8, 1892 in Lancaster County, Nebraska and passed away on Friday, February 24, 1939 at the age of 46 years, 10 months, and 16 days. His entire life was spent in this community. On October 16, 1913 he was united in marriage to Miss Clara Henning and to that union were born three daughters and one son. Besides his wife, Clara and children, Mrs. Wm. (Viola) Meinke, Mrs. Carl (Adeline) Meinke, Miss Esther, and Orville, at home, he leaves two sisters, Mrs. August Schultz and Mrs. Fred Knollenberg, and a cousin, Mrs. Fred Jensen, who was taken in infancy and raised as a sister by Mr. and Mrs. Jans.
