The daughter of Christian and Anna Sass, she was born in rural Scribner on Sept. 28, 1894, and continued living here until they retired from farming in 1973 at which time they moved to Hooper. Read More	Obituary The Scribner Rustler April 23, 1986 Services in Hooper for Adella Horst Adella Horst, age 91, of Scribner passed away Wednesday, April 16, at the Good Samaritan Center in Scribner following a five-month illness. The daughter of Christian and Anna Sass, she was born in rural Scribner on Sept. 28, 1894, and continued living here until they retired from farming in 1973 at which time they moved to Hooper. She lived there until 1984 when she moved to the Good Samaritan Center. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Hooper and a longtime member of the Ladies' Aid of her church. Adella was united in marriage on April 12, 1917 to Herman Horst at the St. John's Lutheran Church located at that time, in rural Hooper. He preceded her in death on March 2, 1984. Survivors include one son, Limer Horst, of Chandler, Arizona; three daughters, Mrs. Earl (Myra) Launer of Cheyenne, Wyoming; Mrs. Earl (Bernita) Reynolds of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Mrs. Anita Giles of Big Lake, Alaska; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; 2 brothers, Werner Sass of Hooper and Roland Sass of Princeton, Kansas. She was also preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and one sister. Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 19, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Hooper with Rev. K. W. Ernstmeyer officiating. Interment was in St. John' Lutheran Cemetery with Warne Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The organist for the service was Mrs. Joan Wittmann and pallbearers were Roy Briedenstine, Victor Horst, Avillus Kroeger, Albertus Lay, Dale Sawettle and John Suhr.
