The last illness came upon Mr. Sass last February and since that time he had received the best care that the medical profession and loving hands could give him. But it was of no avail and on Monday evening he sank into that sleep from which there is no awakening. His demise is deeply regretted by a very large circle of friends in this locality. Mr. Sass was born on March 29th, 1868, on the farm northwest of town where death came to him, and thus he can be classed as one of the truly native pioneer sons of this community. During his 58 years of life here Mr. Sass had become very widely known and had a very extensive acquaintanceship among our people. He was always a rad worker, a devoted husband and father, a worthy friend and always held the highest respect and esteem of his fellowmen. He was united in marriage on the 30th of June, 1891, to Miss Anna Meyer, and to this union eight children were born, all living to share with their mother the heartfelt condolences of friends The children are Mrs. Herman Horst, Alma, John, Norman, Werner, Chris and Roland of this vicinity and Harold of Grand Island. He is also survived by two sisters living at Beemer, a brother at Denver, Colo., and five grandchildren and other relatives. The funeral will be held this Thursday afternoon with services at the late home at 1:30 and at two o'clock at the St. Johns Lutheran church 5 miles northwest of Hooper the pastor, Rev. Theo. Norden, conducting them. Interment will be made in the church cemetery.
