Hofmann was born February 23, 1896, and passed away on March 1, 1952, at the Lincoln hospital, Lincoln, Neb. at the age of 56 years and 7 days. He spent all of his life in Richardson and Pawnee counties, Nebraska. On September 30, 1918 he was married to Miss Freda Droge. To this union four children were born, Ivan of Downey, Calif.; Mrs. Alma Straka, Omaha, Neb.; Mrs. Opal Morton, Omaha, Neb. and Dean U. S. Navy. He was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America and the Knights of Pythias. For the past 28 years he was i the grocery business in DuBois. Here he made many friends. The children in this community knew him affectionately as "Al:, for he always had time to stop and talk with them. Survivors are his wife, four children, four grandchildren and four sisters: Mrs. Philipiana Fankhauser, DuBois; Mrs. Stella Gossenbacher, Bern; Mrs. Irene Roth of Kansas City; Mrs. Verda Baumgartner, Lincoln, Neb., and three brothers, George of Bern, Henry of Leavenworth, and Edward of DuBois. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 5, at 2:00 at the Evagelical United Brethren church. Rev. Lowell B. Ferguson conducted the services, quartet composed of Clifford Boehmer, David Rinne, Lawrence Meier, and Carl Bredemeieer sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Somewhere, Sometime" accompanied by Mrs. Densel Fankhauser. The pallbearers were John Bohm, A. C. Farwell, Max Church, William Wissler and Joe Fink. Honorary pallbearers were businessmen of DuBois: Marvin Hays, Lee Farwell, F. W. Meier, F. A. Korber, Don Hayward and Earl Poland, Harold Mosteller and the Kights of Piathus had the graveside ritual. ALBERT HOFMANN OF DuBOIS DIED SATURDAY Albert Hofmann, DuBois grocer died Saturday evening in a Lincoln hospital. Mr. Hofmann had pneumonia and was taken last Tuesday to the hospital in Pawnee City and Thursday was taken to Lincoln. He was 56 years of age on February 23/ He is survived by his wife, two daughters, who are married and live in Omaha, and two sons. The sons, Ivan and Dean, who is in the Navy, flew toOmahafrom California Sunday, where they were met. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 o'clock at the Methodist Church in DuBois. Albert Hofmann was a brother of Mrs. John Fankhauser, DuBois, George Hofmann, Bern, Bill Hofmann, Leavenworth, Mrs. Leonard Roth, Kansas City, Mrs. Clarence Baumgartner, Lincoln and Ed Hofmann of DuBois.
