H., Nov. 20, 1943. Nov. 16, 1910, he was united in marriage to Mary Powell, and to this union one son was born. Mr. Cope lived in Pawnee county until the first World War, when he served with the United States navy. ALFRED B. COPE Alfred Barton Cope, son of James A. and Eleanor J. Cope, was born in Pawnee county March 25, 1890, and died at Exeter, N. H., Nov. 20, 1943. Nov. 16, 1910, he was united in marriage to Mary Powell, and to this union one son was born. Mr. Cope lived in Pawnee county until the first World War, when he served with the United States navy. After the war he lived in this county for some time, then moved to Seneca, Kan., and later to York and Geneva, then to Lincoln. He was a member of the Methodist church at Geneva and of the Masonic lodge at Seneca. A man of a very friendly nature, he made many friends wherever he went. He possessed those sterling qualities that made him a kind and loving husband and father, and his fine personality and lovable nature endeared him to all who came to know him. He is survived by his wife, his son, Pfc. Sterling H. Cope of the United States army, one sister, Mrs. Earl Johnson of Redlands, Calif., two brothers, A. J. and H. E. of Pawnee City, other relatives and many friends. His parents, two sisters, Ida and Grace, and one brother, Rev. Harry Cope, preceded him in death. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Wherry chapel in Pawnee City, conducted by Rev. C. F. Watters of Burchard and Rev. W. N. Wallis of Pawnee City. Interment was in the Pawnee City cemetery.
