Read More	The Jefferson Bee Thursday, January 13, 1898 page four OBITUARY Mrs. Alice Roberts Died - At her home in Paton on Tuesday evening at 5:30 p.m., Mrs. Alice Roberts in the 41st year of her age. Mrs. Roberts has been a patient sufferer with a cancer for a long time, but has not been bad until the last six or eight months, and has suffered untold agonies ever since until death came to her relief. Mrs. Roberts was born in Kansas, removing with her parents to Richmond, Indiana, where she was married to L. H. Roberts and where they resided till 1882, when they moved to Dawson township. Three daughters were born to them, two of whom survive her, the youngest dying two years ago (sic). Mrs. Roberts has lived a conscientious christian life ever since she was ten years old and has always been a woman well spoken of, who never had a word to say against anyone, even her enemies. The funeral services will be conducted Friday at the Methodist church after which interment will be made in the Paton cemetery. The husband and daughters have the heart-felt sympathy of the entire community in their sad bereavement. ****** The Souvenir Jefferson, Iowa Saturday, January 15th, 1898 page 7 After months of patient suffering Alice E. Roberts, wife of L. H. Roberts, died Tuesday evening at 5:30 from cancer of the stomach. She leaves a loving husband, two brothers besides scores of other friends and relatives who mourn for the loved one. The bereaved ones have the loving sympathy of all in this sad hour of affliction. Call not back the dear departed, Anchored safe where storms are o'er. On the border land we left them, Soon to meet to part no more. Funeral services were held from the M.E. Church Thursday at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Jos. Soper of Spencer, Iowa. After which the remains were interred in the Paton Cemetery. A suitable obituary notice will be given next week. (*none has been found) ~~~~~~~~~~ Alice was d/o William Edgerton and Ellen Cokayne. She married Lindley H. Roberts in 1876 in Wayne Co., IN.
