Description	:	GRANT - Mrs. M. C. Halsey, 94, died here at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Pressie Osborne, about 2:30 a.m. Thursday, September 5, 1963. She had been in declining health for three years, and her condition had been much worse for the past three months. Born in Grayson County December 21, 1868, Mrs. Halsey was the widow of the late M. C. Halsey, who died December 18, 1948. She was a member of the Piney Creek Primitive Baptist Church. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 7, at the Grant Methodist Church by the Rev. Mrs. E. S. Mustard, pastor of the Garden Creek Methodist Circuit, Oakwood, Va., formerly pastor at Grant; the Rev. Willard Reedy, pastor of the Troutdale Baptist Church, and the Rev. J. B. Shumate, Baptist, of Sugar Grove. Interment was in the Grant Cemetery. The body was removed from Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home, Independence, to the Osborne residence, where it rested prior to the services. Published in the Galax Gazette; Tues., Sept. 10, 1963.
