Read More	Defiance Crescent News Obituary Alvin Edward Wiemken, 91, Defiance, died at Napoleon Lutheran Nursing Home Saturday morning, April 6, 2002. He was born Nov. 21, 1910, in Defiance County's Adams Township, the son of Henry and Anna (Freytag) Wiemken. In 1937, he married Martha Precht, who died in 1975. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Adams Ridge Road where he serves as secretary for 14 years, trustee, elder, Sunday School Teacher and a founding member of the Luther League. He was a dairy farmer until 1972, an agent and adjuster for German Mutual Insurance for 33 years, where he also served as a vice president, president and on the board of directors. He served on North Richland Adams School board, Heller Memorial Hospital board, Napoleon and as Ohio Milking Shorthorn Society's vice president, president and chairman. He was a board member for many county, state and national animal shows and was an official classifier of farm animals in U.S. and Canada, retiring in 1975. He was also a national official judge for many stat fairs and helped organize the Adams Township zoning board, served on Farmers Mutual Telephone board of directors and showed cattle at many county, state and national shows, winning many honors and championships. He was a clerk for the Ohio State Fair for eight years, served on Okolona Grain Co., and Hudson Mills boards and received Defiance Kiwanis Club's Outstanding Farmer award in 1954. Surviving are four sons, Wayne of Sarasota, Fla., Merlyn and Jerry, both of Defiance, and Stanley, Napoleon; a daughter, Mrs. Norman (Wanda Lou) Norden, Malinta; a brother, George, Napoleon; two sisters, Luella Meyer of Ridgeville Corners and Anna Gerken, Napoleon; and 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were two brothers, John and Anton; a sister, Mathilda Damman; and a granddaughter. Services are at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the church with Rev. Thomas Frey officiating. Burial will be in the church's cemetery. Visitation is from 2-9 p.m. Monday in Snyder-Wesche Funeral Home, Napoleon, and an hour prior to services Tuesda
