Description	:	Amanda L. Petersen, of Denison, formally of Schleswig, passed away Thursday, May 31, 1984, at the Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison on her 101th birthday. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 4, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig, with The Rev. Richard Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Morgan Township Cemetery, Schleswig, Iowa. Amanda Louise Petersen was born May 31, 1883, in Morgan Township, Crawford County, Iowa, the daughter of Conrad and Friedricke (Winning) Burk. She was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She received her education in the Crawford County schools and Trinity Lutheran School in Grant Township. She married Johannes Carl Petersen on October 14, 1910, at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Schleswig. Together they farmed near Schleswig for 38 years before retiring in 1948, and moved into Schleswig. John preceded her in death on November 10, 1954. She continued to live in her home, until she became a resident of Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison in 1980. Surviving are two sons, Walter (Hazel) Petersen and Cyrenus (Kathleen) Petersen, both of Schleswig; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and other relations and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers and four sisters. Schleswig Leader, June 7, 1984
