Description	:	Amanda Mahala McFarlin, daughter of Nancy and Perry McFarlin, was born near New Sharon, Iowa, February 11, 1859, one of a family of seven children. Mrs. Cox was united in marriage to John Cox, December 20, 1876. The couple went to housekeeping on a farm near the home of her parents and lived in that vicinity for seven years, when they moved to a farm near Seneca, Kansas, in 1883. Read More	Amanda Mahala McFarlin, daughter of Nancy and Perry McFarlin, was born near New Sharon, Iowa, February 11, 1859, one of a family of seven children. Mrs. Cox was united in marriage to John Cox, December 20, 1876. The couple went to housekeeping on a farm near the home of her parents and lived in that vicinity for seven years, when they moved to a farm near Seneca, Kansas, in 1883. Two years later, they moved to a homestead in southwestern Nebraska. In 1891, they came to Iowa and located on the farm where she has resided for 48 years. Soon after their return to Iowa, Mrs. Cox united with the Christian Church at Forest Home and remained a faithful worker and worshipper. She was a loving wife, a faithful mother, and helpful neighbor to all, always ready to share in educational and social work in the community in which she lived. All through life she had enjoyed unusual health and strength for a person of her size and age. Mrs. Cox leaves to mourn her passing her husband and children; Harvey H. of Montezuma; Mrs. Rosa White of Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Essie Sheehy of New Sharon; Mrs. Verda Hildebrand of Montezuma; and Joy L. of Grinnell; one sister, Mary Palmer, and one brother, Will McFarlin of Montezuma; also 23 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Her parents, one sister, three brothers, one grandchild, and three great-grandchildren preceded her in death. Pallbearers were her grandsons, Marlin, Harold, and Alva Sheehy, Ray Hildebrand, and Terry and Elbert White. Interment was made in the Stewart Cemetery near Taintor.
