Mrs. Dunken was born in Nuckolls county (sic), northeast of Nelson, and lived all but a few years of her life here. She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Walter Gibson and Mrs. Charles Thorpe, Watsonville, Calif., Mrs. Jack Smith of North Platte, and Mrs. Laverle Shipley of Nelson, and two sons, Delbert and Burton, both of Corbett, Oregon. The Nelson Gazette, Thursday, June 28, 1956 Amanda Olive Reeve, daughter of Clement and Mary Reeve, was born August 27, 1876 at Nelson, Nebr., and passed away June 27, 156 at Grand Island, Nebr., at the age of 79 years and 10 months. In the year of 1900 on October 3 she was united in marriage to James Daniel Dunken at Red Cloud, Nebr. To this union six children were born. They are Delbert and Burton of Corbette, Ore., Mrs. Lois Thorpe and Mrs. Gladys Gibson of Watsonville, Calif., Mrs. Evelyn Smith of North Platte, Nebr., and Mrs. Mable Shipley of Nelson. She also leaves to mourn, thirteen grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her husband on Dec. 4, 1947, and by three brothers. Mrs. Dunken was born on a farm 4 ½ miles northeast of Nelson and lived on the same place for 63 years. They left the farm in 1940 and lived in Grand Island until the death of Mr. Dunken. At that time she returned to Nelson where she lived until her death. She attended the Methodist church (sic) and was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and the VFW Auxiliary of Nelson. Funeral services at two o'clock last Saturday afternoon in the Nelson Methodist church (sic) with Mr. J.W. Kennedy officiating, assisted by the Reverend Mr. Lincoln B. Justice. Vocal music "In The Garden" and "The Old Rugged Cross," was provided by Mrs. Winifred Shepherd and Mrs. Kenneth Jensen, with Mrs. Leslie Swigart at the piano.
