Amelia was born September 10, 1920, in Pocahontas to John J. and Mary M. Kopriva. She married Clayton A. Drobney on October 26, 1942. He preceded her in death on February 22, 1959. Amelia worked as a time-checker at the Glenn Martin Aircraft Plant in Omaha where she got her nickname, Skippy. She was a deputy recorder in the Pocahontas Courthouse, a secretary for A.C. Carmichael and a linotype operator at the Rolfe Arrow. She was a butcher at Naughton's Locker, concrete worker at Pocahontas Concrete, secretary and realtor at Bert Hanson's, linotype and compugraph-writer at the Record Democrat and Hudek's Printing. She also finished the home she and Clayton were building when he died. Amelia loved to travel. She only missed seeing two states, and traveled to Canada, Europe many times, and Morocco. Amelia loved kids and took Jean and Linda's classmates to basketball games and hosted many parties. Amelia moved to Peoria in 1975 to be near her daughters and grandson. She loved to take Jeremy to games, Boy Scouts and traveling. Skippy volunteered at South Side Mission, Sadie's Cafe, and Neighborhood House in Peoria. She was an Eucharistic Minister at the Newman Center in Peoria. Surviving are two daughters, Linda Drobney of Peoria, Ill., and Jean (Don) Palmer of Donna, Texas. She also has a grandson, Jeremy Halligan and three great-grandchildren: Kodi, Toemi, and Dillon Haughn of Peoria. She is also survived by a sister, Isabelle Tolan of Pocahontas. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, Marcella Simpson; infant son, Joseph Clayton; and infant granddaughter, Lisa Larson. Contributed by Anonymous #49560808
