Description	:	Aminee Woods Jones Roberts, 91, of Lexington, died Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Stonewall Jackson Hospital. Born December 8, 1921 in Salem, Va., a daughter of the late Dr. William Clyde Jones and Beatrice Woods Jones. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William O. Roberts, Jr. who taught at VMI, W&L Law School, and was the City Attorney for almost 30 years, where he was instrumental in Lexington becoming a city. Read More	Aminee Woods Jones Roberts, 91, of Lexington, died Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Stonewall Jackson Hospital. Born December 8, 1921 in Salem, Va., a daughter of the late Dr. William Clyde Jones and Beatrice Woods Jones. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William O. Roberts, Jr. who taught at VMI, W&L Law School, and was the City Attorney for almost 30 years, where he was instrumental in Lexington becoming a city. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Beatrice J. Barger Doss. Mrs. Roberts was a member of the R.E. Lee Memorial Episcopal Church in Lexington where she was a choir member for 48 years. She also participated in other music groups in the city. Aminee taught business for two years at Clarke High School and eight years at Andrew Lewis High School in Salem. She was a member of many organizations which included being a member of the Boys Club Board, Children's Clinic Board, and the Lexington Town and Country Garden Club. She also was on the board of Stonewall Jackson Hospital and was a hospital volunteer for over 50 years. She started the Thrift Shop for the hospital, founded in 1972, and served on its board as chairman and co-chairman. Surviving are her children, William O. Roberts III, Leil R. Hackett and husband Bill, Trent B. Roberts, all of Lexington; four grandchildren, William R. Benton and wife Debra of Clifton, Va., Laurel H. Smith and husband Don of Buena Vista, Nathaniel P. Hackett of Lexington, Jessica M. Gibson of Christiansburg; three great-grandchildren, Preston and Lexi Benton, Leila Marie Hackett; one beloved sister, Charlotte J. Blaylock and family of Baltimore, Md. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at Stonewall Jackson Cemetery with the Rev. R. David Cox and the Rev. Tom Crittenden officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the R.E. Lee Memorial Episcopal Church, 123 W. Washington Street, Lexington, VA 24450 or to a charity of your choice. Family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, Va.
