Description	:	Amos Leist Valentine was born June 8, 1843, in Clear Creek Township, Fairfield County, Ohio, the son of George and Mary Ann Leist Valentine. On February 4, 1869, he married Cerilda Catherine Meyers, daughter of George and Maria Speth Meyers. They were the parents of 5 children, two of whom died in infancy. The surviving children were: Mary Ellen, George Meyers and Amos Meyers Valentine. Amos died on July 8, 1913, in Washington Township, Pickaway County, Ohio, and was buried on the 10th in Maple Hill Cemetery, Stoutsville, Fairfield County, Ohio. Death notice for Amos Leist... Amos died on July 8, 1913, in Washington Township, Pickaway County, Ohio, and was buried on the 10th in Maple Hill Cemetery, Stoutsville, Fairfield County, Ohio. Death notice for Amos Leist Valentine from the Circleville Democrat & Watchman: "Valentine. From Stoutsville News, July 11. Amos L. Valentine, an aged and respected citizen, died Tuesday morning, at his home, just across the county line in Pickaway, on the old George Meyers farm. He had been ailing for a long time, but was able to be about till just a few days before his death. The immediate cause of his death was diabetes. He lapsed into unconsciousness Saturday evening and never rallied. The funeral was held at the home, Thursday morning, and interment made in Maple Hill cemetery." Obituary for Amos Leist Valentine from the Circleville Union Herald: "Death of Amos L. Valentine. Amos L. Valentine died Tuesday morning at 4 o'clock at his home near Stoutsville, of uraemic poison resulting from diabetes. He had been seriously ill two weeks. Mr. Valentine was a son of George and Mary Leist Valentine and was born near Stoutsville in June, 1843. He married Miss Kate Meyers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Meyers, and is survived by his wife and two sons; Amos Valentine, of Stoutsville, and George Valentine, of Columbus. Of his immediate family four brothers and one sister are living; George L. Valentine, of Stoutsville; Eli Valentine, and Albert Valentine, of Oakland, and Elias Valentine of Leistville; and Mrs. Kate Levan, of Stoutsville. Mr. Valentine was a well known farmer. He was a member of the Odd Fellows lodge of Tarlton. The funeral services were held at the house Thursday morning at 9 o'clock. Rev. Mr. Sholer officiated and burial was in Maple Hill cemetery." ∼Amos Leist Valentine was the son of George Valentine Jr. and Mary Ann Leist. He married Cerilda Catherine Meyers on February 4, 1869. They had two sons Amos Meyers 01/08/1881 - 06/30/1967 and George Meyers 03/1872 - 01/30/1941 and a daughter Mary Ellen 11/17/1869. It is beleived that they raise a nephew Orla Oslie Crites Valentine 1869.
