Description	:	Stratford Courier September 12, 1907 Adamson Peter Andrew Adamson, one of the oldest pioneer settlers of Swede Bend, passed away at his home here Saturday evening, September 7th, at 6 o'clock. Deceased was born in Vestariousse (Västerlösa) Parish, Provice of Ostergotland, Sweden, on April 30, 1824. In 1848 he emigrated to this country, locating in Chicago, where he lost his wife and child in a cholera epidemic. Read More	Stratford Courier September 12, 1907 Adamson Peter Andrew Adamson, one of the oldest pioneer settlers of Swede Bend, passed away at his home here Saturday evening, September 7th, at 6 o'clock. Deceased was born in Vestariousse (Västerlösa) Parish, Provice of Ostergotland, Sweden, on April 30, 1824. In 1848 he emigrated to this country, locating in Chicago, where he lost his wife and child in a cholera epidemic. For the second time he joined in matrimony with Malinda Lagergreen in 1850, moving to Swede Bend in 1851. To this union nine children were born, two of whom preceded him to the great beyond. In 1865 his second wife was taken from him and he was married to his now remaining wife, Emma Catharine Peterson in Swede Bend in 1867. Nine children came to bless this union, of which six are now living and seven of his former union, twenty-six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren to mourn his departure. He retired from farm life over four years ago and has since made his home in Stratford. At his death he had well passed the alotted time of three score and ten, he being 83 years, 4 months and 7 days of age. Deceased was greatly devoted to his home, his religion and his Creator and was a member of the local Baptist church. The funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the residence and the Baptist church conducted by Rev. C.G. Bengtson and the remains laid to rest in the Swede Bend Cemetery. The casket was covered with flowers, the gifts of many loving relatives and friends. Peace be to his ashes. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Anders Peter Adamsson Andersson was born April 30, 1824 in Veta, Östergötland, Sweden, the son of Anders Adamsson and Maja Simonsdotter. He was a tailor while living in Sweden. He was married to Brita Cajsa Lind on October 31, 1847 in Västerlösa, Sweden. To their union one daughter was born, Carolina Mathilda, born June 30, 1848 in Västerlösa. On May 4, 1850, he obtained passports for himself and his family in Linköping, Sweden. The family departed Göteborg on the ship Anna Maria and arrived in Boston, Massachusetts on July 3, 1850. Traveling with them was Andrew's brother Frederick Anderson. The family went to Chicago where they joined St. Ansgarius Evangelical Church in the River North neighborhood, also casually called 'Swede Town'. His first wife, Brita and daughter Carolina both died in August 1850 of cholera and would have been buried at the now defunct Chicago City Cemetery. Following the deaths of his wife and daughter he went to Swede Bend (Hardin Township, Webster County, Iowa) to live with his parents Andrew and Maja Adamson who arrived in America in 1846. In 1850, he married again to Brita Helena (known as Malinda in America) Lagergren, who was also a passenger aboard the Anna Maria. They were the parents of nine children: John William, David, Sarah Lena, Samuel, Joseph, Caroline Matilda, Andrew, Charles August and Emma. Malinda died about 1863-1865. On June 19 1865, he was married a third time to Emma Carolina Peterson, a native of Nykil, Östergötland, Sweden.
