To this union five children were born: Mrs. Flossie Wadsworth, Mrs. Edith Peterson, and Mrs. Helen Snyder of Dunlap: Mrs. Etta Seleroe of Ute; and the eldest daughter, Mrs. Carrie Koski who died Nov 2, 1918. She also leaves to mourn five sisters and three brothers Mrs. Mary Merritt, Mrs. Hattie Brace, and Mrs. Effie Rethmeier of Dunlap; William Schlensig of Lorenz; John Schlensig of Soldier; Mrs. Caroline Crom of Walthill, Neb.; Walt Schlensig and Mrs. Nellie Brace of Gordon, Neb. Two brothers, Frank and Charles, preceded her in death. She also leaves 22 grandchildren and one great grandchild, besides a host of relatives and friends. The six years following the death of her daughter, she lived at the Koski home, helping care for her five motherless grandchildren. The remaining years she spent with her daughters and other relatives. She was loved and respected by all, a devoted wife and mother, and a good neighbor, always ready to lend a helping hand. Mrs. Kessler was baptized in the Lutheran church and had always remained a faithful member. Funeral Services were held at the Congregational church, Sunday, June 1, with services being conducted by Rev. Dahike. Burial was made in the Pleasant Hill cemetery. Among those at the funeral, from out of town were, Mr. & Mrs. I.L. Brace and Mr. & Mrs. Walter Schlensig of Gordon, Neb.; Mr. & Mrs. Will Crom of Walthill, Neb.; Will Schlensig and son, and Mr. & Mrs. Wonder of Laurens; John Schlensig and sons of Soldier; Will Merritt of Bassett, Neb.; Paul Rethmeier of Neligh, Neb.; Mr. and Mrs. George Rethmeier of Council Bluffs; Mrs. Carl Fischer and daughter of Iowa Falls; Mr. & Mrs. Rudolph Adams of Charter Oak; Ernest and Robert Kessler, Ben Cambridge, Ray Umbdenstock and Henry Stahle of Solon.
