Description	:	Mary, daughter of William and Elizabeth Schlensig, was born in Wyroca, Wisconsin, December 19, 1858. She departed this life at the home of her grandson, Lawrence L. Robson, July 15, 1938, aged 79 years, 7months and 26days. Mary Schlensig was the second of a family of eleven children. Her father and mother were born in Germany. After coming to this country, they lived in many places, finally settling in Iowa. They came to Dunlap when their daughter Mary was fifteen years of age. Miss Mary Schlensig and John F. She departed this life at the home of her grandson, Lawrence L. Robson, July 15, 1938, aged 79 years, 7months and 26days. Mary Schlensig was the second of a family of eleven children. Her father and mother were born in Germany. After coming to this country, they lived in many places, finally settling in Iowa. They came to Dunlap when their daughter Mary was fifteen years of age. Miss Mary Schlensig and John F. Merritt were married in 1877. To this union three children were born: W. F., Edna M. and Pearl M. Two of the children, W. F. and Edna M. Robson and the father preceded Mrs. Merritt in death. Mr. and Mrs. Merritt lived on a farm west of Dunlap until 1894. Then they moved one mile south of town where they lived until 1914. Since then Mrs. Merritt has lived in Dunlap. Mrs. Merritt has had remarkable health and vitality for one her age. Until about six months ago she kept her own home. At that time she came to the home of her grandson, Lawrence L. Robson, and these later months were spent in his home. Mr. Robson's mother died when he was ten years of age, and he was taken into the home of his grandmother Merritt. The close, intimate and tender relationships of these years have made her more like a mother than a grandmother to Mr. Robson. Mrs Merritt was a life-long member of the Lutheran Church. she became a member of the Dunlap Lutheran Church early in life and has remained a faithful member throughout the years. Near relatives who survive are: One daughter Pearl Mishler, Gordon, Nebraska; three sisters Mrs. Wm. Rethmeier, Dunlap, Iowa; Mrs Wm. Cromn, Walthill, Nebraska; and Mrs I. L.
