Description	:	Passing of the last charter member of the Kramer Lutheran Church on Christmas Day Anna Schultz was born on New Year's Day, 1844 in Westphalia, Germany. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church at the place of her birth. After the death of her mother and remarriage of her father, she immigrated with friends to this country. This was in 1860. Grandma Schultz first settled in St. Louis, Missouri, a year later moved to Clayton County, Iowa, in 1864 she came across the river to Nebraska City and finally settled in the vicinity of Kramer in 1865. That was at the end of the Civil War when Indians still roamed on the prairies of this state. Crete and Kramer, not even Lincoln, were on the map at that time, necessary family supplies had to be purchased at Nebraska City. The deceased was married to her first husband, Henry Henning, on November 12, 1864 in Iowa. With him she came to Nebraska to homestead a farm one mile east of the Kramer Lutheran Church. On this farm, she lived until her marriage to August Schultz, Sr. in May 1904. Her first husband's death occurring in July 1903. Mrs. Schultz lived with her second husband on his farm one-half mile east of the Kramer Lutheran Church, until 1916 when they retired from the farm to live in Crete. After Mr. Schultz's death in October 1919, she returned to the farm to live with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Schultz Sr. There she died on Christmas eve at the age of 88 years, 11 months, and 23 days, after a week's illness. The cause of death was pneumonia. All children survive her: Henry, William, and George Henning; Emma Schultz and Anna Reiss, living in the neighborhood of Kramer; Louie, August, and Louise Meinke, all of Crete. Besides these five sons and three daughters she leaves to mourn her death, 10 step-children, 36 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren, and mnay other relatives and friends. Mrs. Schultz was one of the charter members of Kramer Lutheran church, which was organized about 59 years ago. She had been a faithful member of the Lutheran Church all her life.
