Interment at Kramer Lutheran Cemetery. August Henning, second son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Henning, both long deceased, was born in Olive Branch Precinct, Lancaster County, Nebraska on April 20, 1867. As a boy he attended the religious school taught by Rev. L. Huber, then pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church at Kramer. Interment at Kramer Lutheran Cemetery. August Henning, second son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Henning, both long deceased, was born in Olive Branch Precinct, Lancaster County, Nebraska on April 20, 1867. As a boy he attended the religious school taught by Rev. L. Huber, then pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church at Kramer. On February 26, 1891 he entered the state of holy matrimony with Miss Gensina Menke. This happy union, which lasted nearly 56 years, was blessed with five children, four sons and one daughter. Of these, one son, August, preceded the father in death in 1905. Nearly 60 years of his long and useful life were spent east of Crete. He had been blessed with a cheerful disposition and a kind heart which helped him to gain and to retain friends. Twenty-two years ago he retired from the farm and came to Crete with his wife and two sons. These years he lived continuously in north Crete. He had been suffering for years with a heart ailment. Late last fall he fractured a hip bone which made him bedfast. He passed away February 13, having attained the age of 79 years, 9 months, and 23 days. Survivors are his wife; three sons, Edward of Lincoln, Harry and Dick of Crete, his daughter, Clara Jans of Crete; fourteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; one brother, Lou of Crete; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Reiss and Mrs. Ed Schultz, and a host of friends mourn his departure.
