Description	:	A Crete woman who celebrated her 100th birthday last fall, Anna Reiss, died Saturday in Crete. Services were held yesterday (Tuesday) at St. John Lutheran Church at Kramer. Mrs. Reiss was born September 17, 1875 in Lancaster County, the daughter of Henry and Anna Henning. She was baptized in 1876 and confirmed in 1889 in the Olive Branch Church. Read More	A Crete woman who celebrated her 100th birthday last fall, Anna Reiss, died Saturday in Crete. Services were held yesterday (Tuesday) at St. John Lutheran Church at Kramer. Mrs. Reiss was born September 17, 1875 in Lancaster County, the daughter of Henry and Anna Henning. She was baptized in 1876 and confirmed in 1889 in the Olive Branch Church. On March 16, 1893 she was married to Edward Reiss. They farmed near Kramer until his death in 1934. The couple had one daughter and five sons. After her husband's death Mrs. Reiss lived in Crete and Lincoln, and in later years lived at the Crete Manor. On her 100th birthday a party was held for her, and she received special greetings from President Gerald Ford. She was the oldest living member of St. John Lutheran Church. Mrs. Reiss was preceded in death by her husband and her daughter, Emma Gerbig. Survivors include her five sons, Louis of Roca, Henry and Edwin of Crete, Ben of Grants, New Mexico, and Reinhold of Colorado Springs, Colorado, her daughters-in-law, eight grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild and nieces and nephews.
