Maron Mrs. William Maron of Dolliver passed away Wednesday morning at Coleman hospital, with a heart ailment and arthritis being the cause of death. She had been an invalid for the past five years and was 66 years old. Mrs. Maron was born in 1877 in Germany. She received her education in the rural schools at Whittemore, Iowa and has lived near Armstrong and Dolliver. She was a member of the Lutheran church. She is survived by her husband; a son, A.E. Maron of Grinnell; and seven daughters, Mrs. Amanda McDermott of Davenport, Mrs. Lillian Reed of Long Beach, Calif., Mrs. Emma Anderson of Oklahoma, Mrs. Claude Romey of Long Beach, Calif., Miss Florence Maron of Des Moines, Mrs. Carolos Johnson of Camp Claiborne, La., and Mrs. Leonard Harrnes of Newton. Funeral arrangements have not been completed. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, September 23, 1943) Mrs. Maron Dies Funeral services for Anna Marie [Markgraf] Maron were held in the Community church Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Mrs. Maron died Sept. 22 at the Coleman hospital in Estherville where she was taken a week ago when her illness became serious. She had been in failing health for nearly four years and the past two years had been confined to a wheel chair. Mrs. Maron was 67 years old and is survived by her husband, William Maron, one son, A.E. Maron of Grinnell, and the following daughters: Mrs. Amanda McDermott of Davenport, Mrs. Ella Harness of Newton, Mrs. Lillian Reed and Mrs. Viola Ramay of Long Beach, Calif., Mrs. Glen Voight of Grinnell, Miss Florence Maron of Des Moines and Mrs. Carlos Johnson of Camp Claiborne. Burial was in Lincoln township cemetery near Dolliver. The Rev. C.L. Day of the Community church preached the funeral sermon using the 23rd Psalm, a favorite of Mrs. Maron. A quartet, composed of Mesdames James Stillman, James H. Smith, Galen Weber and Miss Guilberta Elliott sang “Abide with Me,” “One Sweetly Solemn Thought” and “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere.” Pallbearers were Harry Hanson, Albert Hanson, A.R. Eckhart, Ingvard Jensen, M.C. Peterson and O.P. Stow. In the death of Mrs. Maron, the Dolliver American Legion auxiliary has suffered its first loss in membership since its organization in 1931. Mrs. Maron was the Auxiliary’s first treasurer and served in that capacity until her health failed four years ago when she was succeeded by Mrs. Paul Anderson.
