Description	:	On May 18, 1891, at their farm home in Sharon Township, Audubon County, Iowa, twin daughters were born to Jorgen and Marie Mathiesen. They were named Anna Marie and Mary Rose. They attended school in Sharon and Leroy Townships. In 1902 their father bought a farm in Leroy township sec. 30, and had to build the farmstead. This remained their parents' farm until they retired. Read More	On May 18, 1891, at their farm home in Sharon Township, Audubon County, Iowa, twin daughters were born to Jorgen and Marie Mathiesen. They were named Anna Marie and Mary Rose. They attended school in Sharon and Leroy Townships. In 1902 their father bought a farm in Leroy township sec. 30, and had to build the farmstead. This remained their parents' farm until they retired. Anna and Mary both took a seamstress course under Kate Roach, whose school was where the post office in Audubon is located. Anna and Mary worked as seamstresses for many years in Audubon County. On Feb. 14, 1912 Anna was united in marriage to William Blohm. She wore the wedding dress that she designed and made. On Mar. 19, 1913, Mary married his brother, Henry Blohm. Both families lived on farms in Audubon County. William and Anna lived in Section 7, Hamlin Township, and later moved to the farm 1 mile south and 1 mile west of Audubon. They worked together keeping the place neat. There were several flowers in the yard, a big garden, and fruit trees. Anna canned a lot of food and stored it in the cave. She raised young chikens close to the garden and moved them to the hen house in the fall. They milked cows in a barn and separated the cream from the milk. Water on the farm consised of a cistern with a hand pump, located south of the barn. A trough for watering horses was right there. Anna had to carry all their drinking water to the house from this pump. There was a rain water cistern near the house for bathing & laundry. William and Anna's children are Leonard of Kremmling, Colo.; an infant daughter Arlene Ann (born & died in 1915) Arlene (Mrs. Art Christensen)of Audubon; and Bernice (Mrs. H.E."Bud" Farnum) of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Cecil (Mrs. Kenneth Barentson). Besides her twin Mary, Anna had two brothers Chris & Matt Mathiesen, and sister, Christena (Mrs. Roy) Shupe, all of Audubon. In 1965 Anna moved to Friendship Home with William. He died in 1968, and in 1969 Mary joined her and shared her room. They did alterations for residents and other handwork. Other information from family: Anna Blohm was a member of the Rebekah Lodge for over 50 years. She also sewed puppets for children when admitted to the Audubon County Memorial Hospital and mended sheets for the hospital. Anna enjoyed various types of needlework, including embroidery, needlepoint, knitting and crocheting. Anna Blohm died of Pleural Edema - Congestive Heart Failure, on August 30, 1981 at the Friendship Home in Audubon, age 90 years 3 months. A service was held for her on Wednesday, September 2, 1981 at the United Methodist Church in Audubon. Honorary Casket Bearers were Kent Grabill, Tracey Wellendorf, and Jeff Peppers. Active casket Bearers were James Grabill, Timothy Wellendorf, Robbin Wellendorf, Steven Hansen, Scott Hansen, and Brad Peppers.
