William Blohm, son of Joseph and Fredericka Blohm, was born June 2, 1881, in Ottawa, Ill. He died March 18 (1968) at the Friendship Home where he had lived for two years. William Blohm, son of Joseph and Fredericka Blohm, was born June 2, 1881, in Ottawa, Ill. He died March 18 (1968) at the Friendship Home where he had lived for two years. He came with his family to a farm 1 mile west and 1 mile north Hamlin, Iowa at the age of about 8, in 1888. William told of driving cattle from Illinois to Iowa when they moved; his father was a farmer. They lived in Hamlin for about 2 years, then in Douglas Township, and later in Sharon Township. William used to go to Canada when he was a young man to help in the fields with the harvest. On February 14, 1912, he married Anna Mathisen at the Methodist parsonage, Audubon. He was baptized in the Lutheran church and was a member of the First Methodist Church since 1918. The couple farmed in Audubon County until 1950, when they retired and moved to Audubon. He served on the election board in Leroy township, Ward 2, for 28 years and was a township trustee. He was a 50-year member of Aretas Lodge No. 396 I.O.O.F. and a member of the Rebekah lodge. At the time of his death he was survived by his wife, Anna; 4 children--Leonard of Kremmling, Colo., Mrs. Arlene Hansen of Audubon, Mrs. Kenneth (Cecil) Barentson of Manteca, Calif., and Mrs. H.E. (Bernice) Farnum of Denver, Colo.; 7 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 2 sister and 1 brother, Minnie Collins and Fred Blohm of Omaha, and Mabel Blohm of Audubon. Funeral services were March 20, 1968, at the First Methodist church, Audubon, with the Rev. Harvey G. Quandt officiating. Age 86 years, 11 months, 16 days. Casket Bearers were Russell Herbert, Martin Kuntzweiler, Chris J. Petersen, Fred Searls, Leonard Jensen, and Donald Troxel.
