Both Mary and Anna then worked as professional seamstresses in Audubon County. On 14 February 1912, Anna married William Blohm and a year later, on 19 March 1913, Mary married Henry Blohm, William's brother. (William and Anna's children, and Henry and Mary's children were double cousins). The seven children of Mary Mathiesen and Henry Blohm are: Emmert Henry Blohm; Harvey Joseph Blohm; Herbert Blohm; Louis Blohm (of Adair, Iowa); Ruby (m. Leroy Jensen of Colorado Springs, CO); Rose Mary Blohm (d. 1964); and Shirley (m. Dalton Hansen of Hamlin, IA). Both families of Henry and Mary Blohm, and William and Anna Blohm, were farmers in Audubon County, Iowa. Mary and Anna continued to provide income as seamstresses, along with providing clothing for their own families. After the death of her husband, Mary joined Anna at the Friendship Home in Audubon where they shared a room. They still did clothing alterations and other handwork, such as knitting, crocheting, puppet-making for the children in the local hospital, needlepoint, and embroidery work.
