OBITUARY -HART Mrs. Anna Matilda Hart, wife of Joseph Hart and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sam'l Bengtson, died at her home three miles north of Essex, Page County, Iowa, at 1:30 Monday afternoon, March 7, 1904. The deceased was born February 24, 1878 in Ving Parish, Vastergottland, Sweden. She was married two years ago last August, August 28, 1901 in Red Oak, Montgomery County, Iowa to Joseph Hart. Two children were born to them. One a son about one and a half years old and the other an infant son but a couple of weeks old. It was in this last illness that she was taken suddenly worse and all was done that could be done, but medical aid could not save her to her family and friends. The cause of death was the locking of the bowels. When this trouble became known, the attending physician told the family that no help could be given and that all they could do was to await the end. As her last hours were passing away, she spoke of all of her relatives and said that she was ready to go and hoped that they would all live so as to meet her in Heaven and the last words spoken was in praise of her Father, "Hallelujah." Those who witnesses this sad scene say it was the most touching they had ever been called upon to witness. Thus has a young life been taken from her family when it seemed that she is most needed, but we are taught that He doeth all things for the best. The funeral was held Wednesday at the late home of the deceased at 1:00 o'clock and at the Swede M. E. Church at 2:00 o'clock. The services were conducted by Rev. O. F. Stromberg and the church was filled with sympathizing friends who knew ought but good of their departed friend. The husband and immediate relatives have the deepest sympathy of a large circle of friends.
A Card Of Thanks We, the undersigned, which to take this public method of expressing our most sincere thanks to all the friends and neighbors who have been so very kind to us during the illness and since the death of our dear one. We will ever remember these acts. Joseph Hart Samuel Bengtson and Family The Essex Independent, Essex, Iowa, Friday, March 11, 1904, page 4 |
