The deceased was born in Sweden, February 6, 1846. At the age of twenty-six she married to Samuel Bengtson. Read More	A SUDDEN DEATH, CLARA BENGTSON Our citizens were shocked Tuesday morning by the news that Mrs. Sam Bengtson was dead. She was found dead by her bed by her husband. The deceased was born in Sweden, February 6, 1846. At the age of twenty-six she married to Samuel Bengtson. In 1885, they came to America and located in this vicinity, and have made this their home ever since. She was the mother of five children, two sons, and three daughters. One daughter, Mrs. Hart, died about two years ago. She has one brother in the old country and a sister in Chicago. Mrs. Bengtson has been subject to trouble with her heart and she had an attack about two weeks ago. On the evening before her death she worked until eleven o'clock putting up cherries and went to bed feeling as well as usual. About one o'clock that night her little grandson, who was sleeping with them asked for a drink. She got up and waited on him and then went to bed. Later in the night the boy crawled over his grandmother and then fell out of bed. Mr. Bengtson got up and took the boy and then spoke to his wife. She did not answer. The other members of the household were awakened, the doctor sent for, but she had passed away. A blood vessel between the heart and lungs had burst causing the death almost instantly. At the time of her death she was 60 years, 4 months, and 13 days old. Mr. Bengtson was a thorough Christian woman, having been a member of the Swedish M. E. Church for the twenty years. She was one of the best of mothers and neighbors. The funeral was held yesterday afternoon at 1:30 at the home and at 3:00 at the church in this city. The funeral sermon was preached by Rev. Edwards. The body was laid to its last rest in the Essex Cemetery, New Addition, Seventh Row, Lot 31. The family have the sympathy of a very large circle of friends. Essex Independent, June 22, 1906.
