Orebaugh, daughter of William and Emma Orebaugh, was born in Jasper county, Iowa, September 12, 1878, and passed away at the Community hospital, Beloit, Kansas, October 11, 1945, at the age of 67 years, 29 days. When but a small girl she moved with her parents from Jasper county, Iowa, to a farm near Glasco, Kansas. On September 10, 1896, she was united in marriage to Walter J. Chapman at Glasco, Kansas. To this union eight children were born: Edith, who passed away at the age of two years and eleven months; Earl, of Manhattan, Kansas; Cecil, of Wichita, Kansas; Lela Powell of Pasadena, California; Leo, of Fort Worth, Texas; Don, of Glasco, Kansas; Beulah Woolman of Beloit, Kansas; and Kenneth, of Jamestown, Kansas. In addition to her husband and seven children, she is survived by six granddaughters: Mrs. Yvonne Pickerel, Lou Ann, Janice Lee and Patricia Jo Woolman, and Judith and Cynthia Chapman, three grandsons and one grandson-in-law, all of whom are in the armed forces: Staff Sergeant Dean Chapman of the U.S. Marines, Seaman First Class Gerald Powell and Seaman First Class Duane Chapman of the U.S. Navy, and Private First Class Carl Pickerell of the U.S. Army, also two great grandsons. Mrs. Chapman is also survived by three brothers: Ed and Claude of Glasco; Fred of California; and three sisters: Mrs. Jesse Kimerling of Chanute, Kansas; Mrs. Forrest Bohannan and Mrs. Ira Billings of Los Angeles, California; and numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Two sisters preceded her in death. Mrs. Chapman has lived and worked in the Glasco community from the time she arrived with her parents, with the exception of two years spent in Illinois and one year in California. She was a member of the First M.E. Church and always took an active part in church work. She was a member of the W.S.C.S., the American Legion Auxiliary, and was a devoted worker in the farm Bureau and the American Red Cross. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Glasco, Monday, October 15, 1945, the pastor of the church officiating. Pallbearers were her five sons and one son-in-law. Interment was in Glasco cemetery.
