Annie was born May 12, 1907, in New Germany and moved to the valley with her husband, Earl, around 1930. She worked hard all her life and at the age of 80 she became a world traveler. Read More	Halifax Herald 5/8/2007 ******************* ACKER, Annie Pearl - Daughter of the late Benjamin and Elizabeth White of New Germany slipped away 10 minutes after 2 p.m. on May 6, 2007. Annie was born May 12, 1907, in New Germany and moved to the valley with her husband, Earl, around 1930. She worked hard all her life and at the age of 80 she became a world traveler. Even though she never went to school, she often traveled along. She traveled to London England and had tea inside Buckingham Palace and watched the changing of the guards from the steps of the palace. She later attended the Queen's garden party. She toured Europe via train and returned to Canada on the QEII; she also made several trips to Winnipeg, Ottawa and also holidayed in Jamaica and Barbados. Annie lived life to the fullest, she loved to knit, crochet, garden and bake. She was predeceased by her husband, Earl, on August 20, 1968. She will be sadly missed by her family, daughter, Rosalie and Marcel Choiniere, Winnipeg; granddaughters, Anne and George Hebert, Winnipeg, and great-grandchildren David and Michael; Diane and Robert deGrass, Denver, Colo., and great-grandchildren Sierra, Chloe and Justine; son, Earl and Margaret (Archibald), Bear River; granddaughter, Mary Ann and Terry Koch, Ottawa; great-grandson, Kenneth; grandson, James Earl Alan Acker and Gigi (Esnard), Ottawa, and great-grandchildren Jessica and Daniel. The family would like to send a special thanks to the nurses and staff of the third floor of Soldiers' Memorial Hospital for the care and kind thoughts to the family throughout Mom's stay. You are all professionals, and we thank you. Also special thanks to the volunteers of Mid-Valley Palliative Care. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. today and funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, both in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448, Pastor Danny Smith officiating. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Middleton. Family flowers only please, donations in memory of Annie Pearl Acker may be made to Mid-Valley Palliative Care, Volunteer Services, c/o Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Middleton, NS B0S 1P0, or a charity of one's choice.
