Read More	Thanks to contributor 47075564 for the following obituary: Anton Tomek, one of the old residents of this part of Pierce county, died at his home in Pierce, Tuesday morning at four o'clock of heart disease and other complications. He had been in poor health all this spring and had been bedfast for the past two weeks. Anton Tomek was one of the substantial citizens of Pierce for the past eight years. He was a faithful and consistent member of St. Joseph's Catholic church. He was born at Namest, Moravia, Bohemia, June 4, 1860. At the time of his death, he was aged 68 years and 15 days. At the age of 13, he came to the United States with his parents and settled near Prague, Nebraska. Here he grew to young manhood. On January 4, 1883, he was united in marriage to Miss Marie Kamen of that county. The family came to Pierce county thirty five years ago, where Mr. Tomek engaged in farming, owning land southwest of Pierce. Eight years ago, he retired from the farm and purchased a residence in Pierce. Ten children came to bless this union. Two children have passed on before, one of them, Anton Jr., who died fighting for his country in France during the recent World War. Those remaining, besides the faithful wife, are John of Verdigre, Mrs. Anton Sladek of Creighton, James, Joseph, Rosa, Josephine and Mrs. Henry Hahn of Pierce. Deceased is also survived by two brothers, James of Prague and Joseph of Wahoo and one sister, Mrs. John Kasper of Fairfax, S.D. Funeral services will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic church in Pierce at nine o'clock, Thursday morning, conducted by the parish priest, Rev. Theo Mester.
