Later the parents took a homestead in Rawlins County, near McDonald, Kans. May 5, 1904 the Capron family came by covered wagon to Glasco and located one mile east of town. Capron, son of Minnie Beach and Leonard L. Capron, was born in Melbourne, Iowa, March 20, 1888, and died January 10, 1971. When a child, he and the family moved to Hebron, Neb. Later the parents took a homestead in Rawlins County, near McDonald, Kans. May 5, 1904 the Capron family came by covered wagon to Glasco and located one mile east of town. Archie was appointed substitute rural mail carrier in 1909 and regular carrier in 1918. He retired from his mail route in 1957. He was married to Ruby Teasley Oct. 15, 1917. His military service in World war I, after a short period of training, was overseas from April 28, 1918 to June 1, 1919. He was with Company E, 353 Infantry Regiment 9th Division. Archie was a charter member of the Legion and remained very interested in the American Legion the rest of his life. He is survived by his widow; two sisters, Mrs. Loyd Fletcher, Glasco, and Mrs. Oscar Bates, Sun City, Ariz., and nine nieces and nephews. Services were held from the Dean Funeral Home Jan. 12, 1971 at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Dean Donner officiated. Pallbearers were George Colwell, Hector DeMars, Leland Chapin, Dwaine Smejkal, Clive Cramer, Oran Sams. Organist, Nadine Teasley and singer, Robert Pitner. Final resting place, Glasco Cemetery. Those from out of town here to attend the funeral services for Archie Capron were Mrs. Victor Eddy and daughters, Carolyn and Jan, Hays; Russell Stambaugh and Marjorie Fletcher, Wichita; Betty Fletcher, Kansas City.
