Mr. Capron was a jolly, good natured, friendly man, who was devoted to his family, and a good neighbor. Old time friends will recall their pleasant associations with him. A brief story of his life follows: Leonard L. Capron was born at Syracuse, N.Y., September 11, 1854 and departed this life at Glasco, Kansas, August 8, 1939, at the age of 84 years, 10 months and 27 days. In 1859 he moved with his parents to Lyons, Iowa, and at the age of 10 moved to a farm near State Center, Iowa, where he grew to manhood. He was married to Minnie Beach, April 15, 1885, making their home at Melbourne, Iowa, for two years, moving to Hebron, Neb., where they resided three years. From there they moved to McDonald, Kansas where they resided thirteen years, moving to Glasco in 1904, where they have since made their home. Surviving are one son, Arch Capron, and a daughter, Mrs. J.L. Fletcher, both of Glasco; a daughter, Mrs. Oscar Bates, of Hays, Kansas, and five grandchildren. Other survivors include four sisters and one brother, Miss Hattie Capron, who has made her home here for the past year, Mrs. Theron Fiske and Mrs. D.W. Lamb of Los Angeles, Mrs. D.A. Young of Seattle, Wash., and Mr. Clarence A. Capron of Maysville, Mo. His wife preceded him in death by twelve days, and a twin brother, L.M. Capron, November 30, 1932, at Ontario, Oregon. A short and impressive funeral service was held Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock from the Lott & Stine Mortuary with Rev. Roy Allsbury of the Methodist church in charge. Since Mr. Capron's death followed so closely that of his beloved wife, the funeral services were as near alike as possible. O.F. Bearnes, J.H. Cleaver, Elvin Cramer, and W.N. Pilcher, accompanied by Mrs. E. V. Plush on the piano, sang the one song, "Abide With Me." The pallbearers were Jesse Neff, John Lavy, Henry Windhorst, Cecil Martin, Herman Rogers, and C.H. Jordan.
