His love for God’s creation was... Read More	HATCLIFF, ARTHUR R.—Arthur R. Hatcliff was born to Mark Hatcliff and Jennie Christian Hatcliff on May 9, 1910, at their home near Shickley. He passed away on Nov. 25, 1998, at the same farm home of his birth, at the age of 88 years, 6 months and 16 days. He was one of seven children in the family. Art, as he was called by family and friends, lived his entire life on the farm of his birth. He and his brother, Lester farmed together until Lester’s death in 1978. His love for God’s creation was obvious by the way he cared for his livestock and pets and by his enjoyment in watching deer and the wild turkeys who wandered into his yard from a nearby neighbor’s farm. One of his extra jobs was driving a truck for Ted Schroetlin in Sutton for several years almost 40 years ago. He enjoyed helping neighbors, relatives and friends. His sense of humor was enjoyed by his grandnieces and nephews. He enjoyed teasing them with the result being much laughter. Although never married, he had nieces and nephews plus grand-nieces and nephews whom he enjoyed. In his early years he attended Sunday school at the Free Will Baptist Church near his home. In his later years he spoke of his faith in Christ as his Savior. Art was preceded in death by his parents, Mark and Jennie Hatcliff; by sisters, Helen Spahn, Elsie Swanson, Florence Isley, and Alice Ackerman; by brother, Oscar and Lester. He is survived by nieces and nephews and their families. Funeral services were conducted from the Farmer and Son Funeral Home in Geneva on Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998, with Lyle Spahn, Art’s nephew officiating. Charis Buell accompanied those in attendance who sang, “Amazing Grace” and “How Great Thou Art.” Casket bearers were Randy Spahn, James Spahn, Lee Spahn, Gary Buell, Jerry Ulmer and Lyle Spahn. Interment was in the Geneva Cemetery. The Nebraska Signal December 2nd, 1998 page 17.
